The length of my sabbatical meant that I was able to complete a work-related project, travel with my son, focus on some creative writing projects and complete needed home repairs.

I recently sent an admin assistant friend a card to acknowledge all the hard work she does every day and included a gift of brownies. What a convenient way to send cards. She loved it! You answer the phone, book travel, offer beverages to guests, book meetings, prepare the conference room, order food, etc. I block out time on my calendar when I know I will have to work overtime because it's budget season.
