The great resignation and the great reshuffle during the pandemic, tied in some cases to childcare and homeschooling and in others to reevaluation of priorities, appears to be driving a new trend: boomerang employees. Workers are returning to their former employer more often than in the past and often after a shorter time away. According to LinkedIn data , boomerang employees accounted for “4.3% of all job switches” in 2021, up from under 2% in 2010.

According to a study of 1,000 corporate American workers, 60% of them experienced improved relationships with coworkers after attending office parties. Additionally, 1 in 10 received a promotion after an office party. The fallout from office parties isn’t always positive: 35% of workers experience strained relationships, 26% are reprimanded somehow, 17% lose a client, and 14% get fired.

Over half (58 percent) of employers in the UK believe that they will lose staff in the next six months as they seek to earn more by moving jobs, according to a new poll. According to the survey by talent services company, Morgan McKinley for its 2023 Salary Guide , 56 percent of employees in the UK are looking to move jobs in the first half of the year, with 49 percent selecting better pay as the primary reason, followed by ‘better career growth and development opportunities’ (17 percent).
