File Sharing

Practically Perfect PA

I find the best way to tackle the ever-increasing piles of stuff is to have a good filing system in place so that, as my mum used to say, there is a ‘place for everything and everything is in its place’! I have five different types of filing systems that I use everyday. They are: A company-wide online file sharing programme for all important documents that can be accessed by other members of staff (for me this is just my Directors). My email filing system.

I hate filing

Clutter Coach

by I always recommend that my clients be as ruthless as possible when filing paper. Part of my agenda is to get them to keep less paper because paper takes up space, space that could be used better by more useful items. Another agenda I have reflects my attitude toward filing: I hate it. So it naturally follows that the less one needs to file , the better. Yes, I hate filing. If you file with current items in front, the oldest stuff will be in back.

Filing system technique

Clutter Coach

by Using a pre-made file system can be a great idea, but only if you buy into it completely. Systems in general, filing and other, often have lots of moving parts that need to mesh together so if you leave one out because you don’t really like it, the system will eventually break. For example, if you color code your file folders, you have to continue to do it, and you have to continue to use the same colors. Instead, put your attention on the scheme of your filing system.

7 Tips to Clean Up Your Digital Files

Jen Lawrence

Digital records management isn’t something we spend time thinking about until we need to find a file. We spend far too much time searching, wondering where we would have thought to save the file when we were working in it. Frustration sets in as we jam every term possible into the search bar and still we have to sort through file after file to find what we need. I personally despise wasting time looking for files. What actually ends up happening?

7 Reasons to Free Your Business from File Cabinets & 5 Tips to Help You Do It

Tips From T. Marie

One of the most popular excuses many businesses give for needing ‘in office’ personnel is access to files. Some businesses have whole rooms full of metal filing cabinets. Within those metal behemoths are file folders stuffed with paperwork that may or may not be needed in the daily running of the business. I say may not because I’ve worked in offices where at least two-thirds of the file cabinets in the office were never opened. Electronic files are easily accessible.

File and organize: Once you’ve decided on what papers you will keep, set up a filing system that will be easy for you to follow.
