Most Small Businesses Have Less Than $400,000 in Annual Revenue

According to data from the  2014 U.S. Annual Survey of Entrepreneur s, the median U.S. employer small business (those with paid traditional employees) generates less than $400k in revenue. As the chart below shows, in 2014 the median small business had receipts of about $390,000 and  about 4 in 10 (39%) had less than $250,000.  Only about one quarter (26%) of small businesses generated more than $1 million in revenue.
