Thursday proved to be the peak day of the 21st Annual Conference for Administrative Excellence, beginning with yet another series of breakthrough plenary sessions and then culminating in the fabulous Gala Dinner. If we focused on the question, “Can we do Compression Planning with 400 or more administrativeprofessionals?”, Shortly after my initial conversation with Joan, I started enlisting a support network on how we might pull off a 450-person think tank. I had personally done sessions with up to 40, but certainly not 400 or more.
Next, Joan Burge took the stage with a strong message reminding us all why we’re really here, and how every professional can truly “Expand Your Influence.” Ultimately, our progress hinges on the quality relationships and authentic connections we make together, and whether we can implement what we learn. One is to solve problems.
We’ve noticed that the number of administrativeprofessionals have been surfacing on Twitter has been increasing. With more assistants and professionals advocating for and teaching others how to use this valuable communication tool, assistants are seeing the value and deciding to jump on board. I have enjoyed the teachings of most of these ladies over the years and am thrilled to be participating with them and look forward to learning from them too. Not surprisingly, many of the comments, including mine, were in favour of a chance to go on paid professional development.
As the years passed, I raised my children as a working Mom while adding new skills, learning new technologies, etc. There was obviously much more to learn.
