© Copyright Patricia Robb 2010 10 August, 2010 Let your fingers do the walking: Quick keyboard shortcut keys I am on vacation and on my home computer I do not have a mouse so rely on keyboard shortcut keys, which reminded me again how helpful they are and how they are a big timesaver rather than reaching for the mouse all the time.

The phone should be on the desk as near to your keyboard and computer screen as possible. I once made the mistake of having my phone at one end of my desk to my computer screen so I had plenty of room around me, but obviously I couldn’t look anything up while I was on the phone. Then Kelly and Ferriss agreed on something I hadn’t thought of, their phones are poor input devices. It isn’t easy to produce something on our phones, so why focus on it when you can do better work someplace else? Okay, so using my phone as an input device didn’t work – but that was only one side to the coin.

Think you can successfully study the details of a report while talking on the phone and reading your horoscope? So hang up the phone, find a quiet place and focus. Put pen to paper (or finger tips to keyboard) and record important dates in a calendar, notebook or on your mobile device. Stay organized. Get hooked on mnemonics.

Sometimes I wish I had something to warn me when I am with someone with a cell phone so I can know that we are going to be interrupted. I find it frustrating when people either text while in a conversation or are constantly taking phone calls. Apparently not, when its by phone. In an emergency, the cell phone is a useful tool.
