Welcome to June! While I don’t like the fact that 2015 is passing quickly, I am eager to welcome June because this is the official month of Office Dynamics 25th Year Anniversary. I was working on Office Dynamics 25 year timeline the past few days and as I journeyed through all 25 years, I realized how blessed I have been to work with tens of thousands of amazing administrative professionals and executives in every size organization and every industry.
The amount of energy that is used by offices and other types of commercial buildings is staggering. This is why it is vital that the business world commits to energy efficiency. In so doing, they will reduce the tremendous environmental impact they have. At the same time, however, it actually improves the bottom line, which means the benefits are there not just for the world as a whole, but for the business in particular as well.
The post How to Communicate With Confidence appeared first on Ian's Messy Desk. The Wall Street Journal's Small Firms Shift Towards Cloud-Based Software covers the "fundamental shift" towards the use of cloud software and services by small businesses. The article points out one of the major concerns on the part of small businesses is cloud security and whether or not their data will safe. It also nicely covers why this shouldn't be a major issue. Forgetfulness is costing you time, money, and a ton of missed opportunities. In the age of automation, it’s easy to underestimate the power of a well-trained human mind. But memory isn’t just a parlor trick, it's a strategic edge. Human memory is one of the most underrated business skills. Whether you’re managing people, leading sessions, or having high-stakes conversations, remembering names, details, and concepts can be transformative in building trust, absorbing knowledge, and driving perform
According to a recent survey conducted by PA Life assistants spend at least 20% of their time organising travel. That time will be taken up by meticulously planning trips with the hope that nothing will go wrong while their Executive is away from the office. But from missed flights to delays and double booked hotels – lets face it when the boss is out of our sights and flying solo we should expect some issues!
Even if you love the mornings and bound out of bed as soon as your alarm rings, there’s a good chance your sunrise routine could use some refining. Many people find they feel flustered trying to figure out what they need to bring with them before leaving the house, which results in them getting out the door later than planned. If that sounds familiar, the tips below should help you get ready to go more efficiently.

Photo source: architektur. As more and more people get accustomed to the idea that fossil fuels are finite and that it’s every person’s responsibility to ensure the transition towards a healthier and more environmentally conscious lifestyle, sustainable homes are rapidly gaining foothold in the contemporary housing marketplace. It is also worth mentioning that buildings consume a substantial amount of resources through their inhabitants.
Focussing exclusively on cost-savings is no longer sufficient when evaluating the benefits of cloud computing. Although there can be substantial cost savings, it is increasingly important that cloud services support businesses as a whole. This will allow companies to streamline business processes and react swiftly to market changes. The concept of cloud computing is actually… Read the full article here: The Future of Cloud Computing on: THE SMALL BUSINESS BLOG.
Pew Research's Millennials surpass Gen X'ers as the largest generation in the U.S. labor force reports that in Q1 of 2015 Millennials surpassed Generation X to become the largest share of the American workforce. The report chart below shows the generational shifts in the U.S. workforce over the past two decades. An interesting sidelight to the report is Pew's definitions of age cohorts.
It’s getting harder and harder to get your subscribers to open your emails… Let alone read and act on them! As a result, business owners are seeing plummeting open rates for their email newsletters (ezines) … some email open rates are being reported as low as 8.6%. With the sheer volume of other information avenues we’re constantly subjected to these days, it’s not surprising that email open rates are taking a hit.
In the climb from contributor to leader, the rules quietly change. If you’re aiming for the summit, the air gets thinner—and what got you here won’t be enough to get you to the top (a concept first popularized by Marshall Goldsmith in his book What Got You Here Won’t Get You There ). What made you successful early in your finance career—technical accuracy, sharp analysis, flawless execution—won’t be what carries you to the next level.
Almost as soon as I created AssistU , I created the AssistU Standards of Excellence and Ethics pledge. Soon after our initial classes graduated and I realized I was going to be adding a community component to what my company was going to offer, I decided to require our community members to sign the pledge yearly, promising to let it guide their practices.
Don’t Get Lost In The Clouds … The Visible Assistant . Hello Monday Motivators! I hope you had a great weekend. To continue our travels through this special month of June, the official month of the 25 th year anniversary of Office Dynamics, I found more goodies to share with you! I have a question for you: Three frogs are sitting on a log and one decides to jump off. How many frogs are left? If you answered two, you’re wrong, but don’t sweat it. Most people fall for it. Here’s the thing: One frog decided to jump off the log, but that doesn’t mean he necessarily did anything about it. Decision is not the same thing as action.
What are the main aspects of your role? I support both the Artistic Director and Director of Marketing, Communications and Membership. I provide extensive diary management including global travel arrangements, compile reports, agendas and for Committee and Board meetings. I also act as the central point of contact for both Directors which might include meeting clients/suppliers, telephone liaison and managing emails whilst they are away.
The most overlooked, yet most critical, element of transformation is preparing people for change. Automation and AI aren't just technical upgrades, they’re cultural shifts which can challenge identities. That’s why change management isn’t a side project—it’s the foundation. In finance, where precision and process rule, navigating change can feel especially disruptive.
The current employment picture is quite interesting. The official statistics say we've got a great jobs market. According to one economist : "Not only are the labor markets stronger today than at any point in the past 20 years, but we are beginning to see the start of broad-based wage growth," Rick Rieder, chief investment officer for fundamental fixed income at BlackRock, said in a client note.
Phew! What a busy couple of weeks it’s been. I’ve been working diligently behind the scenes for one of my clients getting everything set up for her to launch her live 3-day event in October … and we got it launched earlier this week. There was a ton of set up work to do in Infusionsoft to ensure that the campaign would work correctly and the attendees would get all the necessary information that they need.
Imagine yourself driving down the road. It's a sunny day, you're listening to great tunes, singing along, and everything's groovy in your world. Just then, a bug lands on your windshield, right in your line of vision. You immediately stop singing and frown. The bug isn't being blown off the windshield, either. It's riding along, bothering you, pulling your focus.

by Donna Toothaker. Developing a solid plan for marketing and networking takes work, doesn’t it? And then the commitment it takes to carry out that plan sometimes takes even more effort. Hopefully, you do have a plan and you are making that effort because you know how important it is to your business growth. So, what are you doing to follow up with the contacts once you’ve had that initial meeting?
A close friend of mine is due to welcome her first baby to the world any day soon. During one of her recent WhatsApp grillings amongst those of us already flung into the joys of motherhood, she was panicking about something that only lunatics or agitated pregnant people ponder – feeling bereft at not being at work. When you’re a PA, especially one lucky enough to have a decent relationship with your boss, you can be forgiven for feeling somewhat trepidatious at cutting ties for a substantial per
The Great Decoupling is a term economists use to describe the economic decoupling of productivity, wages, jobs and GDP growth. These 4 factors used to move more or less in unison. But as HBR's excellent interview with Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee - faculty members at the MIT Sloan School of Management - describes, starting around 2000 the growth in labor productivity "decoupled" from job and wage growth. Their decoupling has led to grow

Documents are the backbone of enterprise operations, but they are also a common source of inefficiency. From buried insights to manual handoffs, document-based workflows can quietly stall decision-making and drain resources. For large, complex organizations, legacy systems and siloed processes create friction that AI is uniquely positioned to resolve.
In a recent conversation, I was sharing some of the lessons I learned while building AssistU that are helpful to me still today. There are two, specifically, that I want to share with you, and I'll share one this week, and one next week (so as to let them really sink in). Here's the first: You know who you are. You know what your business is all about.

Assistants are using technology to help them manage their events and also to make their events better. So I thought I would ask William the Curator of Tech Fest a conference and event technology showcase which takes place at ExCeL on the 19th June to explain how five very different types of event technology can help those assistants who are involved in events stay on top of their events. 1.

They are also forecasting that in 2015 there will be there will be more than 2 billion smartphone users and about 1 billion tablet users worldwide.

One niche that is not yet saturated is the online eco business niche. As the days roll by, more individuals are becoming aware of the dangers of our actions on the ecosystem.
Your clients need everything. Today. Your best friend just left her husband and wants to b h about what a jerk he is. The dog won't stop barking, but you can't see what she's barking about. The baby is with your mother, but your mother has a headache and wants to bring the baby home. Outlook won't save new appointments for some reason, and even repeated reboots aren't solving the issue.
