Like any skill, delivery must be learned. Use metaphors, analogies, and similes. Avoid a dry recitation of facts. Model the techniques of good speakers. Try out the techniques you admire in others. Practice your delivery in front of a mirror, or better yet, a video camera. Playback the presentation and look for areas to improve.
Learn from the example of others. If you take time to add these practices to your regular routine, you will quickly find your creative scope increasing. Suck it up. Creativity leads to more creativity. Take time every day to absorb new knowledge and information: read, listen and watch. If you want to be a painter, go to museums and galleries.
The intellectual – learning and knowledge growth and management. We have to learn how to treat every moment we have on this Earth as a precious commodity. Time management is about getting results, not about being busy. The social – developing personal relationships and actively contributing to society. Be it to people or tools.
Understanding Memory Before learning any memory improvement technique, it’s useful to first understand the three stages of memory: encoding, storage and retrieval. Breathless, you hop on the bus and realize your lunch is still at home. Worse still, you spot a new co-worker on the bus and can’t remember his name. Get hooked on mnemonics.
The lessons learned there, and built upon over time, have proved to be the most useful of my school days. In each grade, every student was expected to give at least one speech to the class over the course of the year. In addition, the school held an annual public speaking competition.
To keep our lives in balance, we need to learn to be content with what we have. For example, discontent with one’s weight can lead to diet and exercise. However, if the discontent gets out of control, diet can become an eating disorder.
