Past work experience is, of course, the most important part of your resume. It’s meant to show a prospective employer that you have all the skills required to do the job for which you are applying, and that you’ve used those skills before in a professional capacity. Can you include those skills on a resume, and if so, how?
Having a well-organized resume can help you land your next job, but knowing what to include might be confusing. You need to showcase your relevant work experience, education and technical skills while ensuring your personality and accomplishments are front and center, all while keeping within one to two pages.
For many years, as a career coach, I offered resume writing services. And I don’t mind telling you that I was a darned fine resume writer. But I no longer offer these services—and I want to take a few minutes to explain why and to help those of you who might be considering working with a resume writer in the future.
