Leaders have started to expect employees back in the office much to the delight of landlords — and chagrin of employees. According to data released from the Partnership for New York City last September, it was found that 49% of office workers were back in the office, up from the 38% seen in April 2022. By the end of January, the group anticipates that this number will have grown to 54%.
Prior to 2020, only 6% of all employees worked remotely. After the COVID-19 pandemic, that number jumped up to 13% and only continued to rise. Now in 2023, it’s projected that 25% of the workforce will engage in remote work in one form or another.
