Most of the time assistants tell me they can’t attend our conference for administrative assistants or training because of budget cuts or not getting financial support. Anyone that has ever had to organise a conference will tell you there are 1000s (in fact over 29,000 in the UK) of venues to choose from. When choosing a venue for your next conference there is more to consider than just the budget. It is worth trying to negotiate on the price factor and not just going with the first quote they offer.

Alongside sourcing a venue, we have to think about the catering, any overnight guests, travel logistics, dietary requirements, speakers, training materials, seating plans, AV equipment… the list is endless. Not a confident negotiator? They have a vast knowledge of venues and hotels. Let them do it for you. Probably not.
