Twitter is great for networking and hearing from other assistants, LinkedIn is great for professional development and job hunting, Facebook is useful for interesting articles and receiving updates from relevant companies. Do use social media to engage with potential suppliers and resources for the office.
You might not think so but assistants deal with suppliers on a a regular basis. From hotels to stationery manufacturers, car hire companies and venues for events we are constantly procuring suppliers. It is essential that we know how to procure great suppliers and build effective relationship which benefit our organisation.
Look at your suppliers too – for example, choose snack options or items that are wrapped in paper rather than plastic. . Choose suppliers with a sustainable conscience – Simee Adhikari . One effective way to make an impact is to switch to suppliers that think sustainably. We’re really good at this in coworking!
Facebook and Twitter are not only good marketing tools; they can offer companies the opportunity to interact directly with customers, and instantly address any bad PR in an appropriate manner. It’s a good idea to cut ties to bad suppliers too. And don’t forget to do it yourself; it looks great for a company when the boss gets involved.

There were many free training sessions for assistants to attend and the exhibitors were all relevant suppliers to the industry which again is not always the case with these types of events! I took a few pictures, posted them on Facebook and also on Twitter. I tweeted about the show, the speakers and the content.
