Meeting and greeting visitors, liaising with clients, suppliers and other staff in a professional manner. Devising and maintaining office systems, including data management, CRM system and filing. Although I have already attended a training course on Financial Crime through work I thought I’d refresh my memory and go along to a session on the Bribery Act and how it specifically affects Assistants. Of course, youre going to take a different approach. I grew up in a different age where working hard and being humble were par for the course for the PA. I spent a lot of time researching great venues, restaurants, hotels and suppliers and I really enjoyed it. So… anyway… my point is that I did want to find the cool and unusual places for my boss to visit so that they could impress the clients they were entertaining.
Ask corporations – often they have training courses or accreditation for their products. Look online for affordable web-based courses If you have additional tips, please share them in the comments section. You can of course run your vat on what is called an ‘invoice basis’ This method involves you claiming vat back on expenditure and paying vat on sales when the invoices are raised, irrespective of when payment is made. They coordinate schedules, handle employee issues, negotiate with suppliers and work hard to ensure everyone gets along within the company culture. For example, answering phones, taking messages, purchasing office equipment, working with relevant software and filing paperwork. Low-cost training courses are available online.
If you read this and think this is all b s – and you may be right, of course – let me know why you think you need to borrow money? But you are right of course that funding can also be a problem because of poor planning. I suggest anyone wanting to become self-employed to take the time and really read up about planning.

There will, of course, be times when deadlines need to be met or work just has to be done that will make even the most well organized small business owner feel that they are not managing their time effectively. Remember, there are only 24 hours in a day, so let other people help you. Bear in mind that your time is money!
Of course several Open Source packages are available completely free, which is a perfect solution for the cost problem, but frankly most of these packages are by geeks for geeks; i.e. you really have to be quite IT-savy to implement, integrate, upgrade them, and as we stated most small businesses simply do not have that type of resource.
Of course, there are external pressures on us all, and mortgages to pay and families to support have to play a major role in how we develop our businesses. You can buy all the books, and read all the blogs, but starting your own business is something that has to be driven by you; your drive, enthusiasm and vision for you business.
