Put pen to paper (or finger tips to keyboard) and record important dates in a calendar, notebook or on your mobile device. It also promotes sleep, which can improve focus and help consolidate memories. So hang up the phone, find a quiet place and focus. Stay organized.

Alright, well, I know he emailed me to let me know I had a broken link in a post. And I know he was interested in what that link led to, which made me think well of him, so I emailed him back. In less than 5 emails, in fact. This is perhaps my most important rule of thumb, whether writing books, blog posts, or emails.

That’s a key point and a very important question for every blogger who had been wrecked more than one keyboard writing. But the most important part of the question is not “how” but “why”. Why would you want to convert that traffic? What you developed so far was only discipline. A set of rules followed closely.

Things I didn’t get done that day, emails I meant to send, bills I haven’t paid, posts I haven’t written, product launch process – they all keep me awake in the wee small hours. The good part of waking up then is that I’ll often write whole blog posts or emails in my head, and they’re generally quite good.

I have been so passionately involved in my work this morning I totally forgot I made myself a nice cup of tea and sat it next to my keyboard. As I was reading your post I literally gasped out loud. LOL I LOVE this post. Well, since none of the existing solutions gave me what I want, I created my own iPhone productivity app.

Although it’s been more than 7 months since I’ve published it, I still get a few re-tweets per week and a decent number of monthly thank you emails. After I finish, I send the generated mind map as an email attachment. For that, I’m using Quicksilver, the MacJournal shortcut and self-addressed emails. That’s all.

This is where bloggers get a head start: if you have a blog, you have a good reason to put fingers to keyboard on a regular basis. I don’t know who wrote them and why they thought they had the right to sit before a keyboard and litter the Web with, um, substandard writing. So it’s a good exercise, although a bit painful.
