Grow & learn; read, talk to mentors, attend training or a conference, watch webinars, etc. I got caught up in the feeling of thinking I was not in control of the situation. After a pep talk from my husband, a great coworker and from my sister I set up a meeting with the director. I wasn’t sure how to react.

I temped here and there for a year. Finally, I got a job interview through the temp agency for a one-year contract. I ended up moving to an apartment downtown and walking to work, that's how close I lived to the office. Sometimes what we think we don’t want, ends up being exactly what we need.

I was out of work, temping here and there for a year. Try searching your name on the Internet and see what comes up. Being a member is not only a great place for networking, but for mentoring and learning of jobs in your area. Don’t underestimate the value of temping. That may not be what you want an employer to know?

This would also help with their induction process and ideally a ‘buddy cover’ or mentor could be assigned. With Personal Assistants wanting to take on more responsibility this will free up time for management and avoid unnecessary duplication in teams.
