I hated the mental stress and burden of putting everyone else first and getting only the usual thank you’s and words of appreciation. I would also volunteer at work and socialize with my co-workers during the holiday gift wrapping parties. I will temp and enjoy the downtime to spring clean and read for personal/intra self improvement.

In the event of an emergency or when family visits, it would be great for you to already know who the family members are. Where will you get flowers, baby gifts, birthday cakes, catered lunch, a venue for the holiday party, wine, a list of all the hot restaurants in town? If you are out sick, a temp will have to sub for you.

I was stressed out from the pace of work and also the length of a couple of special projects with a long lead time. We also got 2 floating/personal holidays, about 3-10 sick days, and also working in the entertainment industry, most places shut down for the last 10-14 days of the year. Most of my jobs I was able to take my 2 weeks.

It’s like stage stress, before walking up on a TV show or a big opening act. In the Quebec music industry, I tend to see many artists helping each other out, playing together, promoting events together… truly joining together to be one group of people who believe in what they do. This is frustration, this is not called for.“
