If the supplier knows you are ready to buy for the right price they will cut you a deal. Promise to buy from one supplier for better payment terms, like 60 or 90 days. Some utilities companies get panicked if you don’t pay and they will offer you a monthly payment plan, take it. You want a little more. – ST.

The executive’s calendar should be completely controlled by their assistant and the executive shouldn’t edit the calendar at all (in an ideal world!) Including researching new suppliers, maintaining contracts, communications and invoices. Instead they should direct all meeting requests to their assistant. Point of contact.

Use online technology , so you don’t waste time and get distracted. You will find things you don’t need – trust me you will. Even if you need the service or product from your supplier, check others all the time, insurance, telephone, utilities, etc. You want a little more. You want the whole tree."

This will allow you to stay in close touch with your supplier, and get real time up-dates and feed-back – there are other benefits too. Don’t abdicate. Don’t become a favor. Don’t shun new service providers, check their CV, remember you may get a good deal and it is good to be one of the first customers.

For example, files related to finances can be green (for obvious reasons, right?), Another suggestion is to color code the labels, same example, use green labels for finances. Can’t see the top of your desk because piles of papers are covering it? Find a place for your papers. I like to use the color coding system.
