At Copenhagen-based software and design agency Abtion, employees had learned how to redesign working hours, meeting schedules and adopt new technologies when they chose to adopt a 4-day week. In the US, I am currently working on a campaign to encourage companies to adopt a four-day week; it launched in late June 2021.

Similarly, the federal government has followed suit; by early 2025, over 400,000 federal employees were required to be in the office at least two to three days per week, with some agencies enforcing full-time attendance. Reduced commuting and lower office energy use shrink carbon footprints. Employees benefit as well.
