They allowed me to store client files on something I could lock away in a fire-proof safe each night. Things like graphics and image files.

I always synch all of my files from my main Mac computer in my home office to Dropbox so that I am sure to have all of them handy while on the road by using the app on my phone and tablet. I have a data package on my phone and tablet so I can work from anywhere regardless of Wifi. Use a good task tool.
