I had no idea this could be done, but I was thrilled when I got her email, but it just proved to me once again that we are all holding on to things we take for granted that others know about. The tip she sent me was how to edit an email that you have received. Close out of the email and you will be asked to Save the changes.

There are just too many passwords to remember, and that doesnt include my bosss passwords that I also need to know because I have to check his emails as well as my own. Some sites use your email address as the log in, while others require you to create your own. I keep mine in an encrypted Word file on my computer. Works so far!

A good assistant knows just where to find the document or file needed, or they won’t stop looking till they do. Be one step ahead of your boss. Be protective of your boss’s time. Dealing in real time.

I use hanging file folders labelled from January through to December. Every afternoon before I leave for the day, I go through the hanging file for that month to see if there is anything I need to bring forward for the next day. A tip she passed along had to do with the bring-forward system and has been a great tool for me.

If that is not happening, schedule yourself in their calendar. Keep up to date on their calendar and look ahead to see what is coming up and what your boss might need to prepare for that. Put reminders in their Tasks or Calendar of anything you know is coming up with enough lead time so they will have time to complete it.

Once a date is finalized I put it in my bosss calendar and confirm the meeting with the other participants. When a meeting is finalized, I put the scheduling sheet in a completed file.
