You may need to create rules for yourself, like that a percentage of your paycheck needs to go toward retirement savings before you can buy something just for fun. 30% is for wants, like entertainment, eating out or travel. It’s like stealing from yourself now to pay for purchases later. The same is true, however, in reverse.
