Having booked business travel to Houston more times than I can actually remember I am very aware of how little time executives have when they arrive in Houston. Most business travellers attend their meetings and leave so I always try to book my executives into a hotel that allows them to see at least a little bit of Houston.

The hotel is surrounded by really nice restaurants, shops, cafes and bars which makes it a perfect location if you are travelling over for business and do not have a car. The living area is open plan with a very well equipped kitchen, beautiful seating area with an extremely comfortable sofa and flat screen TV.

It has a boutique feel, is very contemporary but has all of the mod cons you come to appreciate when travelling on business. The restaurant was booked for a private event – showing how popular the space and the food is – so that evening I had dinner in the lobby area. Opinions are entirely our own.

It is a lovely part of Geneva with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. I did manage to escape work for long enough to pick up some groceries from the local supermarket with the intention of using the wonderfully equipped kitchen for some home cooking. Advertised minimum rate per night is 550 CHF (October 2014).

The Doubletree was situated in the heart of downtown Memphis; close to plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and local attractions including the Fedex Forum and Memphis Redbirds stadium. The complimentary Wi-Fi was faultless, which is always a bonus particularly for business travellers. Why book the Doubletree for your boss?

Each room is equipped with the following: Etro toiletries. The hotel has everything that a business traveller requires with access to a 24 hour business centre and faultless wifi throughout the building. The fitness centre is particularly good and the high-tech equipment well maintained. Plush microfiber bathrobes and slippers.

It seems like the hotel has given quite some thought to the female traveller which always makes a nice difference. There is a well-equipped fitness centre for those that do not want to brave the elements. The restaurant is a great place to hold an early morning business meeting, which appears to be very popular in Washington DC.
