In my work as a career coach, I meet a lot of promising professionals who feel professionally stuck. They complain of being overlooked, unappreciated, passed over, undervalued and ignored.
Many of these people feel like victims. It’s my job to help empower them to take responsibility for their part, which is often bigger than they originally thought. Much of the time, we can identify specific behaviors that have contributed to the situation. While it might be hard to face, it’s also very useful information. After all, if you don’t know where you’ve gone wrong, you can’t fix it. By identifying the problems, you can start finding solutions.
I think it’s really empowering when you can stop blaming other people for what life hands you. Yes, certain things are outside of your control. But, before you throw your hands up and declare you’re a victim of circumstance, it’s worthwhile taking the time to evaluate the things that are within your control. Often, a few minor adjustments can totally change your results.
In this month’s webinar, I’ll be discussing some of the most common issues I see that hold people back in the workplace. If you’re curious, I hope you’ll join us!
