The Do’s and Don’ts of Managing Up

by | May 4, 2021 | Webinar Announcement

Odd as it sounds, organizational leaders need their staff to help manage them. While you’re not technically their “manager,” you certainly have influence. Learning how to leverage that influence to help lead your superiors (from behind) will make you an invaluable asset to the team.

Though the term “managing up” is often thrown around in the workplace, few people really know what it means or how to do it effectively. Consequently, they use counterproductive strategies that backfire and end causing problems for themselves and others. Don’t let this happen to you! This session will help you master the delicate art of managing up and avoid the potential pitfalls in the process.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The true meaning of “managing up” and why it’s absolutely critical in today’s working world
  • How to gently steer your boss without coming across as a nag or insubordinate
  • How to be assertive with your supervisor while still being respectful of the person and the organizational structure
  • How to exert your influence in the right way, at the right time and for the right reasons
