Why Simple Living is the key to Finding your Life Purpose

Dumb Little Man

I am meandering in an old town following the road that will take me to my ultimate destination: Home. I know the road although I have never walked its full length before. As I stroll along the road I pass through an open market with stalls put up on the sides of the road but also along side streets and alley ways intersecting with it.

When Time Matters, Old School Rocks!

Virtual Moxie

Rose wrote to me about a problem with a client. The client was readying for an event that Rose was helping with. Two days before the event, the client asked Rose to get the answer to an important question (logistical) from the venue''s coordinator. Rose got the answer, but not in a timely fashion, according to the client. The client was upset, and Rose was perplexed. I asked Rose to tell me how things went down, step by step. Here''s the scoop: Got the request from the client.

Debunking The Myth of the 2 Minute Rule

Simple Productivity Blog

One of the standard pieces of productivity advice is "if it will take you less than two minutes to do the task, do it now." Unfortunately, this can actually be counter-productive. Today we will look at the additional conditions you need to assess before applying the 2 minute rule. The post Debunking The Myth of the 2 Minute Rule appeared first on Simple Productivity Blog. Collecting Client Testimonials Using the Before/After Template

Office Organization Success

I’m going to share with you a really simple way for collecting your client testimonials. This is an important aspect of building your business. But many business owners overlook this important step simply because they don’t know how to implement it. Getting feedback is so crucial to your long-term business success as you need to know that you are providing: the information/services that your clients and customers want; when they want it; and. in the way that they want it.

The Lean Years

Small Business Labs

Rarely do I read an article that captures and describes the impact of economic uncertainty on personal decision making as well as The Lean Years.    Written by Millennial and freelance writer Melina Coogan (Twitter handle @melinacoogan), The Lean Years describes the economic angst of many Millennials (and those older).   Key quote: One of the reasons that I'm scared to have children is because I can't give them everything my parents gave me.

Never Agree to Being Paid for Outcomes

Virtual Moxie

One of my coaching clients said that she''d been approached by a prospective client who, in discussing his needs, said he wanted to only pay her for successful outcomes based on the work she did, rather than simply paying her for her work. She asked what I thought of that idea, and I''m pretty sure that on my side of the conversation, I snorted in disdain.

Adapting Productivity with Limitations

3 Simple Strategies to Get 3 New Clients in 30 Days

Office Organization Success

If you’re struggling to get more clients, there are three simple strategies that you can implement that will help. But, more importantly, taking consistent, daily action is the real answer to getting more clients. I’ve had many conversations with business owners these past few months who are, quite frankly, really struggling with their businesses: They have little to no clients. They’re not making the income they need just to pay the bills. They’re barely keeping their heads above water.

2015 Travel Trends

Small Business Labs

There are already  lots of 2015 travel trend lists out.  Here are a few of the trends from these lists I found interesting. Peer to Peer Dining:  Just as Airbnb lets you stay in someone's house or apartment, peer to peer dining services like Eat With  allow tourists to dine in local homes. Tapping into growing consumer interest in authentic experiences, peer to peer dining lets people experience local food cooked by a local in their own home.

5 Helpful Tips for Adjusting to Change

Dumb Little Man

Whether we are talking about a business or an individual, change is necessary for growth and improvement, but many of these have difficulties adjusting to change or resist it altogether. It goes without saying that change requires a great deal of faith. Unfortunately, in most cases, it is easier to believe in faith or preach it than it is to live by it. Learning how to cope with change is an important skill that one must attain in order to improve our companies or our lives.

Hutong, The Shard, London

Practically Perfect PA

Prior to moving out of London I was living in a house in Wapping. From my bedroom window I had direct views out to the Shard and over the years I watched Europe’s tallest building grow and grow until it was finally opened to the public in summer 2013. By that point I was living in Barcelona, eating a lot of tapas and enjoying the Gaudi architecture.

Moxie Starts in a Deep, Quiet Place

Virtual Moxie

I had the most interesting conversation with a new mentee at AssistU. Her POV on moxie had it dealing with action. Strong action—ballsy action. I shared with her that while it''s often true that moxie deals with action, moxie starts with strength…internally, deeply and quietly. Without that, strong action is just bravado with no real underpinning, and, in my view, not genuine moxie. You have to know who you are, and be comfortable with that before you can engage in moxie.

The Only Habit You Need to Accomplish All Your Goals for 2015

Dumb Little Man

We all know the disappointment of unachieved goals. With each new year, we set a number of goals to make this year the best, only to forget what goals we’ve set come December. For many of us, the story of passionate goal-setting followed by disappointing results is one we’re all too familiar with. But what if this cycle could end? It’s now December—a time to reflect on how far we’ve come this year, and also pause to plot the path forward.

There have been so many times over the years that I have received an email about a fantastic training course or conference that I would love to attend. 3 Habits Surprisingly Killing Your Productivity

Dumb Little Man

Yesterday about 6:30 p.m. a gaping sense of panic set in. Did I send that article? Wait, did I finish that article? Hey, did I eat today? Why are the lights off? Did everyone leave? How did this happen to me, again? I was content with my accomplishments that day, never leaving my workstation. At one point, I responded to twenty emails, while answering the phone. In addition, I scheduled five meetings, created a beautiful report with splashy graphics and squeezed in assisting a teammate.
