The Large and Rapidly Growing U.S. On-Demand Economy

Small Business Labs

The research firm BIA/Kelsey estimates that in 2016 local U.S. on-demand economy generated $34 billion in revenue. They are forecasting this will grow to $57 billion in 2017.    BIA/Kelsey is an analyst firm focusing on the local advertising and marketing marketplace. Because of this, they have a relatively narrow definition of the on-demand economy. They only include consumer transactions that could be sold by on-demand marketplaces and services to U.S. households.

Get Strong, Sleep, Repeat: The Importance Of Sleeping

Dumb Little Man

When you’ve had a long and tiring workout, you just want to go home and sleep. You feel satisfied knowing that when you wake up, you’re ready to take on another day at the gym for successful growth. How do we fall asleep? In a simple manner, your internal body clock recognizes your environment. When it is bright, your brain signals to your body that it is daytime. When it is dark or night time, your body automatically releases a chemical called melatonin.

Love Your Career

Office Dynamics

I have always been a “career-minded” woman since I was a little girl. When I was about 10 or 11, I went from house to house in our neighborhood selling my Mom’s used magazines. When I got a little older, I went to work at my uncle’s beauty salons in Cleveland, OH. I was responsible for collecting money from the customers and straightening the product shelves. After doing that for a few years, I worked at Franklin Ice Cream store, which I loved because I could eat all the ice cream I wanted.

‘Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone’ ~ Pablo Picasso. Procrastination can be one of life’s biggest barriers to success. If we don’t tackle it, it can really prevent us from moving forward towards our goals. Everyone puts off tasks they don’t want to do from time to time, but chronic procrastinators deliberately look for distractions to avoid these tasks. In this era of technology there are many distractions readily available.

Why focus for productivity?

Clutter Coach

by Did you know that sticking to your task makes you happier? When you let your mind wander, even to a pleasant memory, studies show you’ll be unhappy. I remember reading about this in Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s terrific book Flow. In it, he writes about being in the flow, where you are totally engaged with your task, whatever it is. Being in the flow feels great. You’re completely present and time is suspended.

Yoga and Health: From Better Mental Health To Improved Sleep Quality

Dumb Little Man

Did you know that yoga and health are intertwined? Although a spiritual practice at its core, the Western world views the ancient practice of yoga mostly through the lens of holistic healing. Even the National Institutes of Health classifies yoga as a form of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). But there is some truth to this because at the core of yoga philosophy is a focus on one’s health with the purpose of preparing the mind and body for enlightenment.

How to Become Lucky

Dumb Little Man

If you truly believe you’re lucky, and therefore trust all the odds are consistently in your favor, what impact would that have on your life?
