I couldn’t keep up. I was embedded with Army National Guard soldiers as they hiked across hilly terrain in Arkansas, and they were going so fast I had to stop and go back to the start/finish line to wait for them to return. It was the first and, so far, last time I bailed on an assignment because I was physically incapable of completing it. It was a long assignment, and the hike was only a small part of it, so I still got the story.
