The Science of Belonging with Jon Levy

We become preoccupied with belonging, or fitting in, starting in childhood—something which continues all the way into our adult years. This week, behavioral scientist Jon Levy joins Tristan Ahumada to explain the science behind creating meaningful connections, the importance of investing in others and the process of building trust.

According to Levy, several factors are required to build trust successfully: effort, vulnerability, benevolence, honesty and competence are chief among them. Once you have that trust, you can begin building closer relationships with friends and coworkers alike. You also have the first building block to successfully influencing others. Levy’s book, You’re Invited: The Art and Science of Connection, Trust, and Belonging, dives into influence and how to use it, the ways in which human behavior can have a widespread impact even beyond our circle, and how team leaders can begin to create a community in the workplace.

Brilliant Thoughts with Tristan Ahumada is no longer releasing new episodes on the SUCCESS Podcast Network, but you can still listen to the full conversation below.
